The V-Bar-V Ranch is the location of one of the largest and best preserved petroglyph sites in the Verde Valley. The site has over 1000 petroglyphs, which are drawings made by grinding, scratching or pecking away the rock surface. The petroglyphs at the site are considered an excellent examples of the Beaver Creek Style practiced by the Southern Sinagua. They contain many anthropomorphic, zoomorphic, and geometric figures. Specifically, one can see many shapes such as stick-figured humans, turtles, antelope, dogs, snakes, fish (skeletons), spirals, grids, and stars or asterisks. In addition, there are several petroglyphs of a heron-like water bird which is only found in a few Verde Valley locations.
