Big Sur is a very sparsely populated region of California's Central Coast. There are no explicit boundaries but most people consider Big Sur to include the area from Carmel to just north of San Simeon. Big Sur has fantastic views as the Santa Lucia mountains abut the Pacific Ocean. Many tourists visit the area driving down Highway 1, stopping at the many turnouts and overlooks. Especially, popular sites include McWay Cove and Bixby Creek Bridge.
