Mesa Verde National Park is located in the southwest corner of Colorado, approximately 15 miles from the town of Cortez. The park is famous for its extremely large and well preserved cliff dwellings of the Ancestral Puebloans, also known as Anasazi. In addition to being a national park, Mesa Verde is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
