Chi Lin Nunnery Photos

New Kowloon, Hong Kong

The Chi Lin Nunnery in New Kowloon is one of the largest Buddhist nunneries in Southeast Asia and covers and area of over 30,000 square meters. The buildings were rebuilt in the 1990s in the style of Tang Dynasty (618-907) architecture. To rebuild the nunnery, yellow cedar was shipped from Canada to be carved in China by craftsmen. The wood was then assembled in its present location without nails using wooden dowels and brackets. The Buddhist nunnery is adjacent to the Nan Lian Garden and is close to the Diamond Hill MTR station.
