Changdeok Palace is located in Seoul, South Korea. Changdeokgung was built in 1405, during King Taejong's reign. All the palaces of Seoul were destroyed by the Japanese during the Imjin invasion in the 1500s. Changdeokgung was rebuilt in the early 1600s, during King Gwanghaegun's reign, and served as the main palace for many years. Changdeokgung was named a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1997.
