Deoksu Palace is located in Seoul, South Korea. Deoksugung was also previously known as Gyeongungung. Deoksugung was used as a temporary palace for King Seongjong after the Japanese burned down other palaces in Seoul in 1592. King Injo and Emperor Gojong also lived there at various times. Emperor Gojong passed away at Deoksugung in 1919, during the Japanese colonial period. The National Museum of Art is also located at Deoksugung.
