Gyeongbok Palace was the primary palace during the Joseon Dynasty in Korea. It was originally constructed for King Taejo in 1395, but was destroyed during the Japanese invasion of 1592. It was rebuilt in 1868 during King Gojong's reign. Many of the buildings were dismantled during the Japanese colonial period, and the government has been working to restore the palace.
