Namdaemun is the largest general wholesale market in South Korea. The market boasts more than 10,000 stores, selling everything from clothing to food to handicrafts. The market originally opened in 1414 and has undergone many name changes since the 15th century. It became the Namdaemun Market in 1945. The market serves more than 300,000 customers each day, including around 8,000 foreign visitors.
