N Seoul Tower is situated atop beautiful Namsan mountain in Seoul, South Korea. The tower stands slightly over 236 meters tall (777 feet), and at its peak is 479 meters (1571 feet) above sea level. The tower was built in 1969 and opened to the public in 1980. Namsan, which means "south mountain", is a peak in the Jung-gu district of Seoul. The mountain is a public park. It was formerly known as Mount Mongmyeok.
