Golden Gate Bridge Photos

San Francisco, California

Golden Gate Bridge is the most recognized symbol of San Francisco. It crosses the strait connecting the San Francisco Bay to the Pacific ocean thereby connecting the city to Sausalito and the Marin headlands. The bridge is a stunning technological marvel. It was completed in 1937 after four years of construction at a cost of $27 million dollars ($1.3 million under budget). At this time, it was the longest (1.7 miles) and highest (746 feet) suspension bridge in the world.
